ANZAC Day Dawn Service
The ANZAC legend began on the 25th of April 1915, when approximately 16,000 soldiers from the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) landed under fire on the shores of Gallipoli. Many soldiers lost their lives and the landing on Gallipoli became a defining moment in Australia’s history and helped shape the Australian story. The term ‘ANZAC’ expresses the characteristics that are important to Australians and those serving in the Australian Defence Force, including courage, endurance and mateship. We remember those who have served to defend Australia, and who continue to serve, to provide Australians with a country full of peace and beauty.
Xavier College commemorated ANZAC Day by participating in the Dawn Services in Gawler and Two Wells where students laid a wreath to represent all three campuses.
Lest We Forget.

Evanston - Mother's Day
On Friday Week 2, the Evanston Campus hosted a delicious breakfast followed by a heartfelt prayer service to celebrate Mother's Day and honor the special women in the Evanston community.
It was a wonderful opportunity to bring people together and recognise the importance of mothers and maternal figures. To be able to witness the conversations, smiles, and shared moments of joy was heartwarming.
The prayer service led by Fr Chris, supported by staff and student readers, added a spiritual dimension to the celebration, allowing everyone to pause and reflect on the significance of motherhood, the love and support provided by these women, and the need to care for our mothers and significant women in our lives, always.
We concluded our celebration with a beautiful video featuring the mothers and special women within the community, that further highlighted their importance and the gratitude felt towards them.
Wishing all mothers in our community a Happy Mother's Day!

Evanston - Year 2B Class Liturgy
Year 2B celebrated a beautiful class liturgy on Wednesday Week 2 to reflect on the theme of 'Mary, Mother of Jesus, a woman of faith' in the lead-up to Mother's Day. Fr Sefo celebrated the liturgy with us, with families in attendance, which added a special touch to the event, creating a sense of community and shared spirituality.
We were all reminded of Mary's role as Jesus' mother, who demonstrates a powerful example of faith, obedience, trust, love, and belief in God. Through the liturgy, students and families had the opportunity to deepen their understanding of Mary's virtues and how they can emulate her qualities in their own lives.
Overall, the class liturgy provided a meaningful opportunity for reflection, prayer, and spiritual enrichment, allowing participants to draw inspiration from Mary's example as we celebrate Mother's Day and honour the role of mothers and maternal figures in our lives on Sunday.

Evanston - ANZAC Day Prayer Service
Commemorating and remembering the sacrifices made by Australian and New Zealander soldiers is a solemn and important tradition. It is a time to honour the bravery, dedication, and selflessness of those who have served and continue to serve our countries in times of war, conflict, and peacekeeping operations.
As a community, we gathered together in Week 1 for a Prayer Service to pay tribute to these courageous individuals and also recognised the profound impact their sacrifices have had on our nations and the world. We were lucky to have the presence of guest speaker Colin Wardrop - President of Gawler RSL Sub Branch, who provided the children with an insightful reflection on the history of ANZAC Day.
Colin reminded us of the service of these soldiers and the importance of peace, freedom, and the ongoing pursuit of justice. A special thank you to Simon Howat, a current serving ADF member from the Army, and students of ADF families who contributed to our Prayer Service. It was a beautiful celebration and wonderful to see so many families join us for the service.
May we never forget the courage and resilience of our soldiers, and may their legacy inspire us to strive for a more peaceful and just world.

Evanston - SAPSASA Carnival
In Term 1 Week 11, Evanston Campus students competed in the annual SAPSASA Gawler Districts Athletics Carnival. Contending in a variety of track and field events against neighbouring schools, our students embraced the opportunity to test their skills and spirit against new competition. A standout moment came when Year 6 student Charlotte soared to victory in the high jump event, showcasing her talent and determination. Congratulations to all students on their unwavering effort and sportsmanship, embodying the true essence of RUAH.

Gawler Belt - Cross Country
In Week 3, our fastest long-distance runners competed in the Cross Country Finals. The entire student body cheered them on along the length of the new 2-kilometre finals track. All the finalists represented their Houses with great spirit. Congratulations to all 10 of the age group champions and the 10 runners-up, and well done to everyone who participated. Congratulations to Mazzarello House on winning this year's Cross Country Shield!

Gawler Belt - AGT Excursion
In Term 1, the Year 12 Agriculture classes were lucky enough to visit Australian Grain Technologies and tour their facilities. Students got to see how they cross pollinate wheat to create new varieties for farmers, the grow rooms they use to fast track the generations of selective breeding, and all the quality assurance tests they put the wheat through before it makes it to the public as a product, including each variety’s traits as a dough. Students learnt that there is a lot more to wheat variety production than meets the eye!

Gawler Belt - SACE Art Show
At the end of Term 1, our Year 12 students visited the Light Square Gallery to observe the SACE Art Show. It was a wonderful experience that exposed students to all forms of art, inspiring them for future projects. Students also viewed the SAMSTAG Gallery at the University of South Australia, allowing them to explore opportunities and pathways in the arts after graduation.

Two Wells - Head of Campus
As we begin the new term with excitement, it brings us such joy to reflect on the great ways many of our students have started. The glorious weather has certainly helped with our high spirits!
Thank you to those who were able to make it to our heartwarming celebration of Mother's and Special Women’s Day. This marked a beautiful occasion where R-2 students, staff, and families came together to honour the remarkable women who hold a special place in our hearts. Our older students were also able to acknowledge their loved ones on the day through special in-class activities.
I was proud and grateful to our staff and students who attended the ANZAC Day Service at Two Wells to pay their respects to people who have served our country. A special mention to Mr Darian Abley who not only came to the Service, but was also able to wear his Grandfather’s medals. How proud he must have been!
Amidst the festivities, we are delighted to introduce our new Assistant Head of Campus – Mission, Nicole Russell, who joins us with a wealth of experience and a passion for education. Nicole brings dedication and enthusiasm to our leadership team, and we are excited to add her to the ever-expanding layer of support for our community.
In addition, we extend a warm welcome to Science teacher Douglas Curtis and Educational Support Officers (ESOs) Paige Grundy and Jane Renner.
The next few weeks will continue to be action packed, as we look towards various sporting events, Reconciliation Week, and the celebration of Italian Day.
Here's to a fantastic term filled with growth, learning, and meaningful connections.

Two Wells - Mother's Day
On Friday Week 2, our Reception, Year 1, and Year 2 students celebrated Mother’s and Special Women’s Day. This special day acknowledged and celebrated the important contribution, hard work, commitment and love mothers and other special women instil into the lives of our students.
To begin the afternoon, our mothers and special women gathered to enjoy coffee, tea and delicious freshly baked scones from our local Two Wells bakery. Moving to classrooms for the remainder of the afternoon, our students shared their special workbooks, decorated photo frames, created keyrings and other craft as keepsake gifts for their mothers and special women to cherish in the years to come. We sincerely thank all our visitors for their overwhelming support and attendance.

Two Wells - ANZAC Day Service
On the last day of Term 1, R-9 students at our Two Wells campus gathered to commemorate ANZAC Day outdoors in front of campus flagpoles. A highlight of the event was the presence of Captain Felicity Maher from the 1st Armoured Regiment, who graced the Service with her attendance. Captain Maher shared with students the profound history and significance of ANZAC Day as a pivotal national event, enriching their understanding and appreciation of soldiers who dedicated their lives in service for our country.
Following the Service, our Reception, Year 1, and Year 2 students joined Mrs Laura Cooper in Hub 1 for a special reading of 'ANZAC Ted' by Belinda Landsberry. As a community, we extend our gratitude to all who contributed to making this commemoration a meaningful and memorable experience.

Two Wells - SANFL Clinic
Our Two Wells Early Years students kicked the footy around last week! Todd from SANFL and Woodville West Torrens defender Channy visited the students and taught them the basics of Australian rules football. Students had a blast kicking goals and learning how to handball to each other, showing they can be future footy stars!
